I'm contemplating updating my Essentials Enterprise license. Porto has been updated regularly with some nice updates in recent versions. Some (many?) of these have not yet made it to Tahoe. Can we expect to see Tahoe continue to be *aggressively* developed?
Thanks!
I'm interested in this as well. We're considering the cost of renewal for the enterprise license and the frustration of TAHOE changes not 'sticking' or being 'cached' or what ever is the challenge with propagating tweaks made in themes across the entire site(s). We've had several tickets on these.
Overall we're a 9/10 thrilled at the modules, but the Tahoe theme has been a real test for me.
Tahoe is due an update. Many of the features that were introduced in Porto 4 and 5 have been introduced in Tahoe as well. There are no plans to stall development for Tahoe.
Porto has a larger market share and hence is the first one to get the newest features; but same features will make their way into Tahoe and an update will be available soon.
We're trying to count the labor cost to migrate from Tahoe 2 to Porto 7 on a dozen DNN installations. The interest in Porto is simply to not be left behind with a stalled Tahoe version.
I realize there are costs in updating Tahoe, possibly beyond what is predicted to be recovered. Migrating from Tahoe to Porto has decent costs on our end as well.
What features, bugs or differences are between the two latest versions?
I'm simply trying to make a buying decision, and lack enough insight to make a choice. Do I re-license Tahoe 2 so I can add a few more urls with the skin, or do I migrate EVERYTHING to Porto for an unknown list of features?
The primary need we have is for Bootstrap 5. We're on v4 in Tahoe 2. We do not require ADA, or templates.
Your advice?
Tahoe will continue to get maintenance updates for compatibility and security as needed.
Porto has a much larger user base and continues to get new features including Bootstrap 5. I would choose Porto for any installations and only migrate Tahoe if you must have some features that are exclusive to Porto such as ADA or Bootstrap 5.
Are you saying that Tahoe 2 is not due for a Bootstrap 5 upgrade in the near future... ie within a year? The cost to change every module pane on every page of every website is very labor intensive, and we'd much prefer to avoid this by re-licensing Tahoe rather than migrating existing site to Porto just to have bootstrap 5.
Your browser doesn't have Flash, Silverlight or HTML5 support.
Hello - Any word on a Tahoe update? I see that v 1.0.6 now has a date of May 3, 2019. But I've been using 1.0.7 supplied to me to fix a problem for several months now.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We'll get the PR released right away. Thanks
This is great to hear. I realize that different themes are indeed meant to be different!
But I would find it very useful for increased consistency between your themes. For example if Tahoe media queries broke on the same points as Porto , and that all the other short codes worked in Tahoe, with the same options. For an example, of the differences, take a look at dividers in the two. Not a huge deal, in and of itself, but these types of differences add up when moving from one theme to another.
Perhaps your your implementation of the idea you accepted here will provide an opportunity to bring them closer.
P.S. Live StoreFront looks like a real nice piece of work.
I agree. There are some real inconsistencies between Porto and Tahoe that make moving from one to the other much more time consuming than it should be.
I agree. Fundamental, timely, consistency between Porto and Tahoe should be a goal.
Are there any updates to Tahoe in the pipeline? Bootstrap 4, ADA, etc.? Although 1.7 was uploaded in May of last year, I had that version for months before as noted above. I had Porto before Tahoe and when Tahoe was introduced switched. If development on Tahoe has indeed stopped for whatever (valid) reason it would be nice to know we need to be using something else going forward.
I know Porto has tons more installs, but Tahoe will not sell well if not updated.
I'd switch to back to Porto if it had the same menu designs available.
Thank you for your consideration.
Hello Mandeep - This thread makes continues to reflect my concerns about Tahoe support and by extension Vanjaro. Please excuse me if this comes across as rude, as that is most certainly not the intention.
I'm assuming that Mandeep S. will be notified that a new comment has been made.
