Events Module "Live Events" for Site, User and Group Events

As per request I am sharing my idea for a "Live Events" module and then we need some votes to push this forward here in the community.  This is a popular must have module and should be a part of the Mandeeps module collection.  The module needs to be focused on presenting events in a modern device friendly way using the latest trends to deliver event information to a site visitor.

Three different levels of events are needed:

  1. Site Specific Events
  2. User Events
  3. Group Events

Common Features:

  • Users can subscribe to events and event categories
  • Accept payments
  • Sell Tickets
  • Recurring Events
  • Event Category
  • Keyword Tags
  • Event Description
  • Images
  • QR Codes
  • External Event Page URL
  • Ability to Flag Abuse for User posted events
  • Locations (Venues)
  • Date and Time Start and Stop

  • REST API endpoints
  • Event Search
  • Notifications: New, Changed, Cancelled
  • RSS, Webcal, iCal, Outlook...

  • Widgets for displaying parts of the event calendar

Pretty much everything else a common event calendar has that would work while using DNN CMS.  The DNN Events module shows a lot of these features as well.  Something to this nature of an event calendar that is simple to setup and use for everyone from a basic user to the administration of the module.  The calendar could be integrated with other live modules as well such as live storefront to show when sales start and end.

I like everything on the list above...

Here are a few features related to above items:

  • Tickets: Different ticket types - i.e. Adult $25, Child $15
  • Attendee List: should be exportable to CSV or even post info to Google Sheets automatically 
  • Views for List & Detail: definitely need templates here
  • Registration Form: if it could utilize Live Forms it would give excellent flexibility PLUS option for external URL
    • For a couple of my sites, parents sign up minors and a signed permission slip is necessary in addition to registration. With Live Forms this would be possible all in one form with the plugins.

Live Storefront extension as well so live storefront can help manage available seating would be nice.

At the same time a general "Listing" application for events, classifieds, real-estate and so on that can handle managing registrations along with selling items or seating.  Possibly combination of live forms and live visualizer along with live storefront could power this system but it would be nice to have some templates generated that perform all the logic straight out of the box.  Remove what you don't need and adjust things as you like. 

At the same time an event only specific module is nice to keep the project simple and specific to one purpose.

Can you provide a comparable service? Provide some examples of other sites that we're trying to match the functionality with.

For selling tickets, movies, theatre performances such as ticketmaster for a great example along with a eventbrite or even google, bing, facebook.  I think of google bing and facebook in terms of UI for posting the content and potentially displaying as well depending on when and where you use it and if it needs to be connected to a way for users to pay or just a general overall nice modern UI and looking calendar. 

A hybrid approach to all of the best features and uses along with the best most modern usability approaches that keep things simple.

Is this something to be released anytime in the near future as this was 6 months ago maybe some progress being made here?  Any update is greatly appreciated.

As I have mentioned in prior posts, it would be helpful if all of mandeeps modules were social group aware so events, blogs, ideas, discussions etc  could be used specific to a social group.
