Use Display None for Hidden Fields?

Hello. I noticed that if you have show/hide events on questions that it's just using visibility:hidden. The issue is that it still takes up your height. So if you have questions below it you end up with a big gap. What if you used display none instead, use jquery show/hide events? See screen shots for more detail.

We can't use Display: none due to multi-column layout; if you were to hide a field in multi-column then it would mess up the entire layout. So we must preserve the space and simply hide the field.

We're happy to hear the alternatives. Perhaps, even an option to let the admin decide?

I believe that let admin dedice if retain the hidden space or  not, would be a great choice in order to make feel the form more responsive/
