Upgrade Guide

Upgrading Live Content to v5.x from following versions:

FROM V4.X.X TO V5.X.X

You must be on v4.x.x to upgrade to v5.x.x. If you're on a prior version, refer to applicable upgrade guide below.

There are no special upgrade instructions when upgrading from v4.x.x to 5.x.x. Just install the module like you normally would (refer to Module Installation).

With any new installation, make sure you perform a complete site backup prior to installation.

The following features are removed and are no longer available in v5.x.x:

  • Launch more than one element at same time in overlay
  • Default table based theme with options of number of columns & Templates
  • ThumbStrips, Transitions, Outlines, Anchor, Alignment, Height Reduction, & Preserve Content
  • Lightbox option for individual elements. This option is now available at module level
  • Link Type (ability to show Text Link rather than Thumbnail)
  • Launch Type (ability to launch an overlay with mouseover)
  • Ability to drag and move overlays
  • Comments in overlay adjacent to element (Left or Right)
  • Video player settings such as control bar and skins
  • RTMP streaming and video playlists
  • Custom Field1 to Field5. This has been replaced with ability to create as many fields as you like.
  • Media Gallery, Picture Gallery, and Video Library themes
  • Random order setting in sort options
  • FLV Encoding. By default, encoding is now MP4 which is mobile compatible.
  • Google Analytics integration
  • Facebook & Twitter Integration

FROM V3.X.X TO V4.X.X

Upgrading from Live Content v3.x.x

Important Notes

  • Amazon S3 integration has been removed from Live Content.All existing elements will continue to work. For new elements, use our new Cloud Storage provider.
  • Live Content Tags Clouds module has been deprecated and will no longer work. Use the new Live Content Widget module instead.
  • Live Content Slideshow module was discontinued with v3.x; it has been officially removed from v4.x. Use our Live Rotator module instead.
  • Themes architecture has been changes significantly in Live Content 4 and therefore any existing custom themes may not work properly. Refer to documentation for new themes architecture.

 

Upgrade Instructions

  • Refer to Installation & Activation and Install the module.
  • While still logged in as a Superuser/ Host, navigate to a page within the portal that has Live Content module. You will be prompted with instructions to upgrade.

Upgrading from v1.x.x is no longer supported under our standard support. Please contact us for a quote under our paid premium support to upgrade.
