Discussions that are actually questions

For use case how should we guide our communities to distinguish between things that are discussions and things that are questions?

Most discussions have a question component.

Many questions have a discussion aspect. 

Will there be the ability to move a discussion to a question and reverse?

    That's an excellent question and honestly I'm not sure how to address that. I'll let the community chime in how we should guide the users appropriately to a Q&A platform Vs. Forums (Discussions) platform. 

    I do have the answer to your other question. There is native integration between Live Forums and Live Exchange and you could easily move a question from one module to another. 

    All of our community engagement modules (Helpdesk, Knowledgebase, Forums, and Exchange) are integrated with each other so you could take a ticket and create a knowledgebase out of it. Similarly, you can take a discussion or question and convert it into a ticket on Live Helpdesk.

    Is the poster and subscribers notified automatically via email that the post has been repositioned? If no, it would be a desirable optional feature. It would be great to include a link to the new position in the notification.

    No. These are separate and individual modules. The integration merely allows an admin to copy content between them. Rest is up to the admin to delete the original content, link it to new location, notify users, and so on...

    It appears my questions created the hybrid case. Part of it a question, the other part a discussion! Hadn't thought of that.

    "you could easily move" does that mean the feature is supported natively or just that it is possible?

    It's a feature that's available out of the box. You could integrate your Live Forums module with Live Exchange and vice a versa. After setting up the integration, you will have the option to move a question/discussion by a click of a button.
