Live Campaign - Unsubscribe Strategy

Can anyone advise on how to handle unsubscribes for private distribution lists?

We're a members only site, with some public lists and several private, team lists. Private lists don't appear on the unsubscribe form. How do folks unsubscribe from them? And how do we segregate public and private lists for user management of their subscriptions?

Thank you.

Interesting scenario. Private lists are explicitly designed so they don't appear in unsubscribe form. The users are managed privately via the Live Campaign interface.

Perhaps, have the users contact the admin via Form or Ticket and request manual removal?

Thanks, Mandeep. To make GDPR compliance a little easier, we are trying to make our subscriptions entirely self-managed. We have some lists that are large but cannot be open to all members. I'll consider the request form option.

Thanks. I'll watch for it. Seems to me that a list is a list, whether public or private, and both should have self-managed unsubscribe functionality.

Private list (by design) is so that user cannot add or remove itself from that list. The user still has the ability unsubscribe from all lists.

Perhaps, the unsubscribe form can be improved to show the private lists if the user is already subscribed to. I believe, that will solve this issue.

Thanks again, Mandeep. For now I've got a subscription management page with all public lists that users can self-manage.

And I've got another page for private list unsubscribe requests. I'm using a small Live Forms module for each list and those modules are visible based on roles associated with each list. Not perfect but the best I can think of.

Are you saying the "unsubscribe from all lists" function includes private lists?

Mandeep, if I may ask one more question on this. It look like the subscribe module also functions as an unsubscribe method.

If you configure it to allow the user to select lists, the user can later deselect a list he or she is subscribe to and that will unsubscribe.

Am I understanding this correctly? Thank you.

I believe a user should be able to unsubscribe from any list or at least be able to request it and potentially a way to auto allow unsubscribing even if in a private invite only campaign group.  Possible option is to include an email address with a link for a subject line to include and remove whoever emails it as needed.  Not sure if that is good enough but thought I would share a little here if it could help.

<a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=UNSUBSCRIBE&body=Unsubscribe">Unsubscribe Click Here</a>

Then forward those emails with that subject to your active inbox and remove them upon request.  Until an actual way to control doing this is part of Live Campaign just trying to give a thought for a solution to this issue.  Thank you and good luck!
