Once a skin configuration is finished, is there any advice on how to optimize the skin for performance. Google PageSpeed Insights indicates very poor performance. 

We are interested in advice on removing unused css, js, and web fonts. 

Would removing unused code in the ascx file help?

Should we optimize the loading of web fonts by pre-loading them with entries in the ascx file?
