Add more functionality and tools to the current CKEditor toolbar

On my site I always use Codesnippet (https://ckeditor.com/cke4/addon/codesnippet) to add nice formatted code snippets and I also use 'autolink' and that transforms a pasted hyperlink into a clickable link (https://ckeditor.com/cke4/addon/autolink). If you those now go to https://ckeditor.com/cke4/builder and create a custom package and copy that to DesktopModules\Mandeeps\Libraries\Common\Frameworks\Ckeditor. Problem is that with each upgrade you need to copy again. If you have other CKEditor plugins you use let us know and reply to this idea.

We've introduced our own HTML Editor powered by CK Editor. Learn more at: https://www.mandeeps.com/support/knowledgebase/html-editor

I create a custom package then copy that over the Ckeditor folder (at: DesktopModules\Mandeeps\Libraries\Common\Frameworks\Ckeditor). However, the Editor of the module is disappeared then.

No worries, I have used a beta build from Mandeep and it will be released soon. Next version has much better capabilities of adding and removing plugins. Very nice!

It's great to hear that. Thanks Mariette Knap

Yes. We're almost ready to release new modules with new CK Editor build. You will be able to create custom profiles, choose from pre-configured plugins, add new plugins, and more...

Just waiting on our team to update documentation including walk through videos.

While the new version of the CKEditor in the most recent Mandeeps modules is very nice and easy to work with, we found a big issue with the fact that if you customize the editor in any way, such as add new plugins to the editor, those changes are not carried over to other instances of that module throughout the site, but are only on that one instance of the module which you customize.

We would like to see that any CKEditor changes made by the Admins be automatically carried through to all existing and future added modules so that there is consistency in the editor throughout the entire site, rather than having to manually configure the editor to display the plugin options that you want in each and every module with a text editor.

Also, if you already have a site built, like us, then the changes to the editor need to be pushed out to all existing modules to keep them all the same.  Otherwise, you'll have different modules with different toolbars scattered all through the site.

Even newly added module don't bring over any custom changes to the text editor, so that issue really needs to be resolved as well.

Always ending on a high note, the new editor in the most recent versions of the Mandeeps modules has made working with the CKEditor better and easier than ever before, so huge kudos to Mandeep and the team for that!

Are you sure? I mean if you create a new profile on Module-1 on Tab-1 and use that profile on Module-2 on Tab-2 I see the same profile. Also if I change profile on Module-1 it is also changed on Module-2.

Mariette,
I believe Rob is referring to the ability to apply a profile to "All Live HTML Modules" vs. "applying them individually"

Rob,
Feel free to submit this as new idea if you have not already done so. This was our 1st iteration of an HTML Editor so there is room for improvement and we'll tackle those suggestions going forward.

Ah, some setting that sets a default profile on a module. Now I understand.

I believe this would be better served by a Mandeeps HTML Editor Provider as you had previously suggested.

For now, we'll go ahead and include the "autolink" plugin in our basic CK Editor. Let's keep this idea open for community feedback on an HTML Provider. Thanks

Yes, your HTML Editor Provider should work with modern modules like Live Forums and Live Exchange. It seems that the current HTML Editor Providers are really not made for modern modules. Would be very nice to have a 'Mandeeps HTML Editor Provider'!

How would you suggest we get an image into comments and questions of the exchange (no upload button).

We have screenshots we'd like to include in the body of posts and comments. File attachments are not near the same as viewing the image in a set of instructions (for example).

Thoughts?

You can do that with the current editor but it requires some changes like an image uploader and the image browser button in the toolbar.
