Integrate LiveContent with LiveStorefront

When I think of trying to sell digital products in LiveStorefront, I quickly want mechanisms to present these digital files in an elegant way. For example, for a video product I would want to show a sample clip, similarly for a pdf file or image. That of course makes me think of LiveContent whereby they could be embedded elements in the product detail pages of the store. That's great if people like to browse your store all day looking for sample videos.

What I would like to see is some LiveStorefront features integrated into LiveContent. By doing so, I could then browse a digital library in LiveContent to decide what to purchase. For example, LiveContent might have an "enable LiveStorefront for this module" option. By enabling it, the LiveContent items each would display a set of store actions (add to wishlist, add to cart, etc.) that would correspond to designated products in LiveStorefront. What if a LiveContent item doesn't have a product assigned to it from the store? Perfect for those "coming soon" items (aka movie trailers, etc.) to display in LiveContent video elements.

So far, it's easy to picture doing these things with these conventional LiveContent media items. I think it gets even more exciting to think about integration with LiveContent eModule elements. This seems like a decent way to demonstrate web applications and entice customers towards purchase of something.

Just a thought.

Thanks for this suggestion; however, we don't have any plans at this time to integrate Live StoreFront with Live Content. There are two ways to approach this:

  1. You can always build your catalog with Live Content and then include a "Add to Cart" or "Purchase" link in the caption or Live Content template. Live StoreFront does support direct URLs to add a product to the cart.
  2. Live StoreFront front end is theme driven and can be completely customized. You could easily create any layout or feature set in the front end to build your own catalog that is tailored towards digital goods like music or videos.

I would like to sell a place for people to put content... such as a job listing or event.  How can I accomplish this?

  1. User purchases a plan to allow a post content
  2. The content is allowed to be displayed for a certain amount of time. or until it date has passed the day of the event for examples.
  3. User can have a certain number of items allowed to post or unlimitted.
  4. User can be allowed to renew or upgrade the listing to a better package.
Possibly adding and removing users from security roles would maybe play a role.

This is what I am hoping to eventually be able to create for many uses other than what is described, but all flows the same and can use your modules however the thought needed to put this together is tremendous currently.

I dont see or understand how I can set content to expire.  I am going to be trying to work on this over the next couple weeks.  I dont like any of the calendar systems available for DNN as far as being good for users to allow posts and things like this.  I would like to be able to allow users to have private and public events they can list.  And a way for users to see all the posts in places such as their events from the profile.

I would like users to be able to sort by newest post which it can do but also by when it expires and a calendar to help choose days for things such as events or upcoming sales.  I want to allow my users to be able to post this content, possibly with approval first but not necessarily.

You could use Live StoreFront to manage transactions and Live Visualizer to build your events/classified system. Unfortunately, your requirements are custom your business needs and can only be solved by a generic module such as Live Visualizer. It would require you to create your own templates and logic.
